The Holiday Inn Al Barsha is keeping something secret

Believe it or not it was some two years ago that I heard about The Royal Budha,it slipped my mind for some time. Today though we were celebrating 12 years of marriage and he graciously let me choose where to dine. I found that rather amusing as I ALWAYS choose where we eat but it must have made him feel happy. Of we went to investigate what The Royal Budha had to offer.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel. I was a bit worried when we only found one fellow diner in the restaurant, empty restaurants are something that unnerve me slightly. Anyway not to be put off we were presented with a fabulous menu of traditional Thai dishes. There is a great selection of starters/salads and a few soups.  The main course menu is pretty extensive with plenty to choose from, with a selection of signature dishes and Chef specials. I chose the goong pad pong kra ree; wok fried prawns with chili and turmeric. My husband opted for the nuao pad prik Thai onn; wok fried beef with young peppercorn and red chili. Due the absence of the kung pao chicken (her favourite asian dish) on the menu the child settled for the kao pad gai; wok fried rice with chicken.

The food was well presented and the portions were huge! I was so glad that I hadn’t ordered starters! My dish was absolutely stunning, the rich sauce that smothered the perfectly cooked prawns was divine. The husband described his dish as being outstanding, I had a taste but it was too spicy for me. All the dishes on the menu can be spiced to suit your palate though so don’t worry about ordering the dish, just ask for the less spiced option. All in all a very good lunch and I can see us returning. The main course dishes are a bit pricey for example my dish was priced at 100 dhs and the beef dish was priced at 115 dhs. I am guessing this is the reason the outlet is so quiet as there are many Thai restaurants in the Al Barsha area that offer good food at a better price.  Today however I was able to use my  Entertainer app and saved 100 dhs on the total bill.
