The Songkran Festival – Traditional New Year’s Day

The Songkran festival is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year’s Day from 13 to 15 April. The traditional Thai New Year is a national holiday.

Songkran originally was celebrated only in the north of Thailand, and was brought there by the Burmese, who adapted it from the Indian Holi festival. It spread across Thailand in the mid 20th century and is now observed even in the far south. However, the most famous Songkran celebrations are still in the northern city of Chiang Mai, where it continues for six days and even longer. It has also become a party for foreigners and an additional reason for many to visit Thailand to immerse in another culture.

At Holiday inn Dubai – Al Barsha, we celebrate Songkran Festival with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. The Songkran Festival indulges in the delicious journey of Flavours and Authentic Thai cuisine at award-winning The Royal Budha. The evening starts with prayer ceremony followed by Special Thai Set menu and live entertainment.

The ideal combination of delicious food, bursting with intense flavours and alluring aromas, aesthetically pleasing environment and traditional ceremonies coupled with Thai dance promises to deliver you the most authentic Thai festival experiences in a foreign land.
